OK, so its been 44 years of heartbreak. But, I have to admit that the Chargers are imbedded in my heart --broken or not. I have 'given up' and I have tried to switch allegiance. 'didn't work.
Last week, that team redeemed themselves in my viewpoint. With 2 minutes to play and leading the Colts by 4 points, I thought "OK...these are the Colts, World Champions. Its probably over for the Chargers. But you know what, John? This is a great team and they played one helluva game today. Win or lose, I'm proud of them." Then, I held my breath and paced for the last two minutes of the game. They won.
And now, in about 3 hours they face the Perfect Pats. No one thinks they can win...but they can. Win or lose, I will be proud of them. I won't be happy if they pull bonehead, game-losing stunts like they did last year against this same team. But undeniably, I will still be a Charger fan.
Good Luck, Bolts!

Ahhh. All day today I have been playing it in my head. We all know the Chargers are going to lose today. We will all be mad and throw a pillow or two. We will try not to curse, but we will. We will eventually succumb to the acceptance of the Charger's place in the Universe. In the end we will still love our sorry team.
But, for now, before the game starts, I have come to savor the feeling of hope, however breif.
....... Go Chaaa-ghas!
:-)
Well, some things never change. Some things do. I spent most of the 4th quarter, having fully accepted the Charger defeat, spending time laughing and playing with Ellie.
Seseme Street was a great distraction!
There is always next year.......
Go Giants!
Condolences.
What do you all think of Rivers? He seems a little "Second string" to me?!
I haven't seen enough of him.
I have never considered myself a charger fan, even though that is where I grew up..but I was hoping for a win...If not for myself...for my charger loving family...maybe next year...
However, I will then be back to rooting for the Broncos.,..
Now we are faced with either rooting for a Patriots' win to finalize their place in history with a perfect season, or root for MR. (I don't want to play for the Chargers) Eli Manning. The Pats are the new Evil Empire that no one likes outside of the New England states. They have a coach that cheated against one of the worst teams in the NFL, a pretty boy QB (who is also dating a super model, dang athletes) and a crowd mooning, only play hard if the ball is coming my way wide receiver. But they also have Junior (my home will always be San Diego) Seau and Teddy (my home town is Rosville, California) Bruski.
I'm not sure where I was going with this thing, but the bottom line is I hate both of these teams. I'm hoping for a "Sum of All Fears" game where a bomb goes of in the stadium and the Chargers and Packers get to play in a make-up game.
I'm just kidding about the bomb thing but truthfully I will just be watching the game for the commercials.
Hey, there's always next year!!!
We live 30 miles, as far as the crow flies, to NYC. Nothing but Giant fans around here. Guess we will go with the flow!
Hey John, you will be in St. John so you have the option of swimming or snorkeling and avoiding the lame game altogether.
For the record... I want the patriots to lose... by a lot!
I can't "just go swimming". I have to watch the game for 3 reasons. #1 If the Patriots win the game it will be historical. #2 If the Giants win the game I get to watch the Patriots lose!!! #3 The commercials. Any way it goes I just want it to be a good close game with funny commercials.
I was so happy to see the patriots lose!
